[Sophos Notification] Advisory - Sophos XG Firewall v17.1: Remote Access SSL VPN connectivity issues

Hi Community,

We have seen recent issues where users are unable to establish remote access SSL VPN.

When users tries to establish remote access SSL VPN connection, they receives the following error in the ssl client logs on their PC:

  • TLS_ERROR: BIO read tls_read_plaintext error: error:1408F119:SSL routines:SSL3_GET_RECORD:decryption failed or bad record mac

Please see this KB article for the latest information and what to do if you are affected.

Update 1:

Only XG 1xx series Rev.3 models are affected by this issue. A fix is now available for XG 125 Rev.3 models. Please contact support to get this fix installed. Sophos developers are currently working on a fix for the rest of the affected models.

Update 2:

This issue has been resolved as part of the SFOS XG v17.1.1 MR-1 Release.
