MTA mode - no outgoing mails

Hi,

I have a problem getting emails out using mta-mode.
In legacy-mode everything works fine.

When I activate mta-mode incoming mails are working fine,
but our exchange gets an error forwarding mails to our smarthost:

451 5.7.3 require basic authentication

I configured the sendconector to use the XG as smarthost with a user configured
on the XG

On the XG I configured the settings for smarthost and relay with these tutorials:
community.sophos.com/.../127585
community.sophos.com/.../125596

but still get the error.

Is there a docmentation or guide how to configure the XG and Exchange-Server?

Any help is appreciated.

  • Hi Berni,

    Would it be possible to enable the Support Access tunnel on your device and PM me with the Access ID for further investigation?

    Thanks,

  • Hi,

    I finally got this working.

    After a firmware-update I configured MTA mode completely new.

    We decided to give up the smarthost. It´s easyier to use the XG for sending mails.

    Here is what I did:

    Enable MTA-Mode
    Go to relay-settings
    Host based relay (Allow) -> Exchange-SRV
    Host based relay (Block) -> All
    Upstream Host (Allow) -> All

    Go to policies -> Add Policy -> SMTP...
    Domain -> yourdomain.com
    Route by -> Static Host -> Exchange-SRV
    Enable SPAM/Malware/File Protection

    On the Exchange-SRV:
    Create a new send-connector
    Mails via Smarthost -> IP of the XG
    no Authentication

    Change MX-Record for yourdomain.com to the public IP from the XG.

    I hope this may help others in the future.
    If I missed or misconfigured something feel free to answer.

    Regards,
    Berni
