How to get an AP10 recognized when xg is a VM

Good Afternoon!

I have been trying for the better part of a week to get wireless working on my Sophos XG vm. I am running on ESXi 6.7.

I have deployed the ova several times and also flashed the AP10 with the recovery tool.

No matter what I try I can't get the Wireless AP to show up in available wireless devices, or the Wireless interface to report anything other than unplugged.

I have 3 NICs.

- WAN out to the internet

- LAN Trunked 4095 VLAN

- Wifi  a vlan on a portgroup directly to the physical nic on the esxi host where the AP10 is plugged in.

How do I get it to be seen? Ive tried lots of different ideas, but I am drawing a blank at this time.

Thanks!

  • Hi,

on the wifi vlan do you have a DHCP server enabled?

Please provide a simple drawing of how the AP is connected, your description is not clear to me.

  • Hey There!

Thanks for helping me out. Here's the current view of my environment.

    • Is there any way to get the Blue GuestAP interface to not show "unplugged"?
    • Since my AP10 is added to a port group and that port group has a nic on the sophos xg,  I can see it shows up as Port 3
    • I have flashed the AP
    • I have re-spun a test vm to see if the configuration has to be set prior to install.
    • Yep I have a DHCP scope enabled for the wifi zone.
    • Additionally, I have added port3 to the wifi zone.
