Hey PepijnDeneut
Have you tried blocking this file type extension via web policy (with HTTPS decrypt and scan)?
Hi Flo,
I meant in mail policies. Not web policies?
Hey Pepijn,
My apologies for the confusion. Please create a File Type category defining this .iqy file extension, then create an SMTP policy that is configured to block this File Type category via the File Protection section.
Regards,
SMTP is only for outgoingmail, but I want block inbound mails attachment with xls .
Yes, i got the same problem. In UTM you can create POP3 rules with exactly this function. [^o)]
Hey Alexander Fox
This would work for inbound mail as well.
Thats my settting SMTP Rulez. When I send mail from outside to the Domain the excel File works.
Would it be possible to enable the support access tunnel for your appliance and PM me with the ID?
I'd like to investigate the file type definitions that you configured for this.
Thanks,
I have change and marked only the Office Apps under Block File Types
and Word and Excel come to the user. No effect.
For outgoing mail it works for me. But not for incoming mails.

Have you Test "Block ALL" and TEST
I send an email from one internal reciever to another. This worked because the mail was flagged with "filtered" and the attachment was cleared.
But the SMTP rule does not work when i send an mail from outside (via webmail). Then the "IMAP" scan filter dont use the settings form my "SMTP" scan filter. And this should work for incoming mails like pop(s) or imap(s), am i right?
Question, you become Mails Direct to your System or you are use POP3 /IMAP for incoming mails ?
I am using the XG in legacy mode. There are some clients in my network using POP3 and others using IMAP for incoming mails.
I think , but I musst test. It works only if you become direct the mails to Firewall and get than to a Mailserver in your Network.
But i think the legacy mode works like a transperent proxy, so also the MIME-filter should work properly.
Everything else works great like the malware filter for POP3 and IMAP and so on. The SMTP filter works too, but only just for outgoing mails. There is no rule set for filtering attachments in POP3 or IMAP configuration. I think but this is exactly what i need.
My configuration is like this:
SMTP:
Client (Outlook) ----> XG Firewall -----> External Mail Server
POP/IMAP
Client (Outlook) <---- XG Firewall <---- External Mail Server
Thats is the same situation by me
