Can Sophos XG be installed on headless box?

I just got nice small PC-Engines apu4 board, and I would like to install Sophos XG on it. But how? This mini-computer does not have any graphic output, only serial console. I tried searching this forum and internet but found only some info concerning Sophos UTM, nothing for Sophos XG. So I'm asking here:

Can Sophos XG be installed on headless box (without any graphics, using only serial-port)?

If yes, how?

If no, well then I guess I have to move to Sophos UTM, which (as it seems) can be installed over serial console...

  • Hey

    Welcome to the Sophos Community!

I'd advise for you to visit the Sophos XG Support Home page and view the Getting Started video. You configure the Sophos XG via connecting to it's LAN-port Admin IP address with a workstation/computer via a web browser.

    Regards,

  • How do you normally install software on this box?? Surely its got some kind of display out or built in KVM maybe??  As far as i know the Software installer which i use on a normal PC comes in ISO format so you have to boot from that and install that way.  Yes once its installed you configure it all from web browser on https://172.16.16.16:4444.

But your still going to have to somehow boot from an ISO then follow several short steps to kick off the installer.

So as far as im aware with the Software installer i dont think you will be able to without some kind of display out?

Someone pls correct me if im wrong.

What model is the unit your using, surely there is somekind of web ui or KVM over LAN built in for you to get installations on it??

Baring that you could always put the Hard disk in a PC to kick off the installation there and then put back into your unit but it would need to be same make chipset. ie intel or amd.  Or setup PXE boot from ISO but still you will need some kinda of display for the initial setup options.

But if its old enough to not have display out i doubt its going to be powerful enough to run XG, just looked at UTM serial install and all I found was a script someone made for Astaro ASG once it wasnt a full installer.  Serial upgrades will work as you have console access to the install itself.  Think your going to have issues, pls reply back with the make and model id be happy to double check for you.

    thanks
