XG 105 / tagged wan / loopback interface / public IP

Dear Friends,

I request help with my sophos xg 105. I subscribed for a dedicated E1 connection and my ISP installed a tellabs 8110 CTU-R modem configured in bridged mode and I do not have any access to it whatsoever.

The ISP supplied me with the following:

Vlan=810
Your wan ip= 172.16.49.94/30
ISP wan ip= 172.16.49.93/30
Your public ip (loopback interface)=185.173.60.10/32
Please configure a static default route pointing to our wan ip address.

I have tried the configuration given to me with no success. I tried sophos community and also spiceworks with no success either.
I dont know if it is required to configure rip on the firewall or am I obliged to configure a default static route since I have another internet connection(HDSL) to my firewall which is working correctly .

Can you please supply me with some hints on how to configure my xg firewall to benefit from this dedicated connection?

  • Hi Alex,

    You need to configure a static WAN interface with a 172.16.49.94/30 IP address and set the Gateway IP as 172.16.49.93. Then you can create VLAN interface under Network > Interfaces > Add Interface (VLAN) and add the VLAN on the WAN port with the public IP address as provided by the ISP. Finally, create a firewall rule, LAN>Any>WAN and define MASQ. No need for a static route, the firewall rule will do its job. Let me know if you need further assistance.

    Thanks,
