Is it possible redirect Netflix to 1 of 2 WAN connections?

I have a two relatively low bandwidth connections: ADSL2 and 4G.  Both are shocking about 1.5 Mbps up / 10 Mbps down. However on one we have unlimited Netflix and Stan (An Australian competitor) on the 4G connection, so it makes sense to use that connection for Netflix and the ADSL connection for everything else.

I know I can redirect a single device exclusively to one WAN connection, however that is not what I need. There are multiple devices that may stream Netflix on the LAN (phones, laptops, Apple TV’s, etc.)

Can I redirect only Netflix traffic (or a predefined type of traffic) from any client on the LAN to one of the WAN connections?

This would be the most efficient use of my low bandwidth connections. I think this is achievable with Sophos UTM, but I know early versions of XG (15, etc.) had problems.

My initial searches only turned up solutions about basic connectivity with web protection on, but didn’t address this question.

  • Hi,

you can make a Firewall Rule that route Traffic when Surfing Netflix.

Just go to Firewall -> Make a new Network Rule -> Name it -> and then select From Zone: LAN, From Device: Any -> To Zone: WAN, To Destination: Netflix (you can select it in Destinantion list. SFOS has added Netflix by Default).

Should look something like this (its German Sophos, but Layout is the Same):

And now the Redirect MASQ Path:

Now select the Default Gateway that should be used when surfing this Rule:

In the Rule, scroll down to "NAT & Routing" and select the Default Primary Gateway that should be used when surfing this Rule (in your case the 4G gateway).

DONT FORGET!!!: This Rule has to be on the Top of other Rules!

    Done.

Now every Traffic that goes to Netflix should be routed through 4G Netzwork.

    Does it help you?
