QoS on an Interface

Hi,

We have an XG with the latest firmware with 2 LAN networks which share the same internet connection.

I would like LAN 1 to be able use 80% of the internet bandwidth and LAN 2 to use 20% of the bandwidth but don't see where that is possible in the XG.

Only see being able to apply QoS rules based on TCP Priority settings.

Any way to do this?

Regards

Andy

  • Hi Andy,

you will need to build your own rules.

System services -> traffic shaping settings. Please remember all settings are shown and Kbytes not kbits.

  • Hi Ian,

A little confused - System services -> traffic shaping settings only offers me the ability to set the WAN Bandwidth.

I am looking to set the maximum bandwidth on other interfaces I use, Port 4 and Port 5 in my case, of the WAN bandwidth.

I can create a Rule Based Bandwidth Limit but only for a Priority, I want it to fire for all traffic going from Port 4 to the WAN as an example. To stop that network consuming all the bandwidth.

    Thanks

  • Sorry wrong tab, you build your traffic shaping policy and apply it your application rule which you then add to your firewall rule.

I am trying to copy my voip rule as an example. My XG is being a little slow producing the list I want.

  • Hi Ian,

As mentioned I am trying to do this for the Interface itself, not an Application.

I want it to apply to all traffic going from my Port 4 Interface to the WAN interface, i.e. want to restrict the network on Port 4 to 2MB/s bandwidth via the WAN.

Don't want it by User, Application or Traffic Priority just the whole port. If there was an "All Priorities" option I could do it but there isn't and can't create a rule for each priority as it doesn't achieve what I am trying to do.

Doesn't seem possible on the XG but hoping someone can prove me wrong.

    Thanks

  • Hi Andy,

at this stage you can't do it for an interface, only on the WAN or rule based, but you would have to workout each rule.

I would suggest you do a search of the feature request forum and add you vote to one of the requests on QOS.
