SFOS 17.0.6 MR-6 mail spool data

Good day, I am trying to delete "Delivery Failure notifications" in the mail spool. Some date back a few months. I am presently in MTA mode. I verified in the queue (maybe not looking in the right place). There are no mails stuck. Is there a log or a clearing of a database I can do to clear these messages in the UI.

This is a pain in the butt.

The delivery failures are not for my domain either, these are emails trying to be relayed which I block.

Also if any has a suggestion to not have these Delivery Failure Notifications in MTA let me know.

Hi,

First of all,you should fix the issue with the Delivery Failure Notification Mails.

These mails seems to be caused by the XG.

Go to the Advanced Shell and perform a 'grep -i 'delivery failure notification' awarrenmta.log |less '

Check if you see a reason for these messages.

Been trying to fix this issue for I while. Using drop instead of reject to see if this will resolve it.

It is as if the MTA does not delete the emails that are trying to be relayed to anywhere but my domain. There is no option in the policy section where I indicate which domain's the mta is allowed to receive.

Anyone else has an idea.

Presently checking to see why I am getting these....

Hmm this is interesting ...

Mail delivery failure. Unable to route through MX by policy Global Policy

Seems you try to sent mails through XG, which the XG cannot sent, because it does not find the MX.

Do you see "MailIDs" in the Logs ? Looks like [XXXXXXX]

Grep the ID with 'grep [XXXXXX] awarrenmta.log|less' and check, if you find the RCPT address.

Well, that is the point. These emails are one that try to use the Sophos MTA as a relay. I block that in Sophos. These should be dropped and they are not. It is as if Sophos is trying to send an error to the sender.

I don't want that! It should just be silently dropped.

This is the full message in the log:

Apr 27 11:31:14 [0xb0000002]: [0xb0000002-1524836774]: FROM = , TO = cippi@positivesvibess.com, SUBJECT = Delivery Failure Notification, Size = 24768, Status = Failed, Reason = Mail
delivery failure. Unable to route through MX by policy Global Policy.

Not sure I understand, you want me to show the config of the mta or the all of the error messages?

Would be nice to see the reason for your XG to try to be a outbound relay for external IPs.

Seems like you have a setup, in which external ips can use your XG as a Relay.

My XG is not configured for relay, I have tested it. What part of the configuration do want to see the policy or the relay settings?

Business Application Policy which can scan SMTP (if exists)
