IPS Sophos XG DOS Protection

IPS Sophos XG DOS Protection

What do you have set for your IPS / DOS protection i have tried the standard limits and also increased them and found traffic related issues not sure if found any issues with the XG or found a sweet spot. Obviously different from business to business.

  • You are correct on the different from business to business, first of all you can eliminate any attacks for systems you do not have on you network, this will help save on resources.  But for the most part I have IPS running on most, then I went through and made exceptions where needed.  DoS protection is nice but I have seen it cause issues with things like a speed test for example.  I think a good practice with the XG is to start tightening things up a little at a time, work through any issues and keep going till you have it all locked down to your expectations.
