L2TP VPN not working

Hi All,

I'm having a problem connecting to the L2TP VPN on an XG 135 running 17.0.6 MR-6. I'm using the built-in Windows 10 VPN connector on the remote computer. When I try to connect it says:

"The L2TP connection attempt failed because the security layer encountered a processing error during initial negotiations with the remote computer."

My L2TP settings are:

Policy: DefaultRemoteAccess (I've tried the DefaultL2TP policy and our MSazure policy as well)

Gateway Type: Respond Only

Authentication Details: Preshared Key

Local Network Details, Local WAN Port: our Public IP WAN

Local ID: Select Local ID

Remote Host: *

Allow NAT Traversal: Enable

Quick Mode Selector: Local Port: 1701

Remote Port: *

Advanced Settings: Disconnect (blank so disable)

Idle Session: blank

VPN Authentication Methods:

I've got both Active Directory and RADIUS servers set up for authentication.

Thanks,

Michael

  • After talking to Tech Support, I had limited the remote network and it was preventing the connections. I also had to enable MSCHAPv2 on the radius server as the connection was passing data in a different format than the RADIUS server was configured to accept.

    All fixed and working.
