Can't reach 172.16.16.16 on my brand new XG 105 hardware firewall

I just bought a new XG 105 firewall.

I connected port 2 to my modem (with DHCP and a working internet connection) and port 1 to my PC (both directly or through a switch).

I just set the IP of my network card to 172.16.16.17 (GW 172.16.16.16, DNS 172.16.16.16, net mask 255.255.255.0) and started the firewall (blue led?).

I can't ping or reach 172.16.16.16... just tried ping 172.16.16.16 and https://172.16.16.16:4444 through a browser.

What should I do? Any idea?

    Welcome to the Sophos Community!

    To rule out the possibility of an pre-existing configuration stored in your new firewall causing issues and to confirm default settings:

    • I would advise to first attempt accessing the CLI of the device via monitor/keyboard or with the provided console cable.
    • If the default credentials don't work.

    After accessing the CLI, you should be able to verify the configured interface network settings via 1.) Network Configuration > 1.) Interface Configuration

    Note that you can also perform a factory reset of the appliance to ensure you won't run into issues with any pre-existing configuration settings.
