Domains in Whitelist still dropped

Hello,

I am running the Email filtering in MTA mode, all emails are checked against spam

I have whitelisted various domains to ensure mail gets delivered from them.

I have noticed recently that emails from some domains even though they are in the Email > General Settings > Allowed IP Addresses/FQDNs list, they are still flagged as SPAM / PROBABLE SPAM, both of which are dropped.

some example domains:

eurodk.com (Probable Spam)
m.reply.ebay.co.uk (Spam)

Any ideas why this whitelist isn't working?

Thanks

Ian

  • Hi Ian,

For further investigation, I would advise raising a support case and attaching a sample of the dropped emails you are experiencing (one of each, in .eml format). As well, please enable the support access tunnel of your XG and include the support ID in your case.

Please PM me with the support case number that you are provided with and I will follow up.

    Thanks!

  • Thanks for the info, I am only a Home User so don't have access to opening a support case.

It is also not possible to attach the dropped emails as they are dropped rather than delivered.

  • Hi Ian,

No worries, I'll still try to help you out as best as I can.

    • What version of SFOS are you currently running?
    • Would it be possible to provide a screenshot of how your domain whitelisting entries are currently configured?
      • You can also temporarily set your SMTP SPAM policy to warn/quarantine these emails (instead of drop) in the meantime so you can gather more information from them (exact email addresses from the email headers)

    Regards,

  • Thank you for the reply

    • I am using the latest release SFOS 17.0.6 MR6
    • I have attached a screenshot of how the domains/emails are currently configured, a couple of private domains/email have been redacted.  But you can see how many permutations of the ebay mailing outputs have been included.

    • I will move the emails to quarantine probable spam and gather more information.
    • I have been using the email address in the SFOS logs, and the SFOS Email Logs to generate which domains need whitelisting.

    Thanks

    Ian

  • Hey Ian,

Thanks for providing that screenshot and further information. Please keep us updated regarding the information and exact email addresses you observe on the quarantined emails and their headers.

    Best,
