Game blocking/filtering

I have kids who spend too much time gaming. I want to limit access to all game services, e.g. steam, origin... during certain times of the day. This appears to be near impossible in XG. I tried policies, blocking ports, everything, and nothing works.

It seems these services use CDNs which are also used by services I don't want blocked. Or they use port 443 which I obviously don't want blocked.

Is there someone on the forum who has managed to do this and is willing to share how?

Many thanks

  • I forgot to add that the rule does block the web pages but not actual game traffic. But the reason given is a little bit strange:

  • Hi,

the reason is not strange, you have block unrecognised protocols ticked in the WEB tab.

If you want to block games you need to add the XG CA to all devices and  setup web and application rules. You can also add time constraints to the firewall rules the allow access to the games.

You will also need to implement static type IP addressing and clienteles users to lock devices to specific firewall rules.
