eSXI VM Realtek 8111 passthrough not visible in Sophos XG

Hi,

I'm trying to set up my Sophos XG Home but it seems that is not seeing the onboard passed through nic, which is a Realtek chip. Now, I'm not sure where is the issue for Sophos, is it the passthrough or is the Realtek chip being incompatible. I run it successfully in same configuration in a different machine, linux based.

Running lspci does not give too much info, are just some hw. addresses.. so is not clear that the card was visible or not, although I see an address, similar with the one from the network card.

At this point I'm not sure from where to start.. again? Any hint?

  • If it is in a VM then the chip will not matter. the issue will be what driver are you installing on the VM that the XG can see?

  • The nic is passed through directly to VM. There is no driver installed (is not a virtual nic.. such as E1000 or VMXNET3) so it's totally up to XG to handle the network card. The nic is dedicated to that vm, so is not shared among other VMs on that host.

In such conditions, do I need to install a driver in Sophos XG?

    Thanks for trying to help.

  • In that case I would have to assume the NIC is not supported by XG.

When you login to the XG at console, what does the network tab show? Also during installation you have been shown the available NICs with at least two otherwise the installation would have failed.
