Upgrading from V16.05.MR9 to v17.0.6 MR6 and IPSEC Site to site

We are planning to upgrade from V16.05.MR9 to v17.0.6 MR6.

 

Is it required to re-create IPSEC VPN ikev1 settings after upgrade or should in-place upgrade work ?

    Be sure to have a plan B, C and D.

    Requirement or not, there are good chances VPN fail after upgrading.  There are hundreds of comments you can read here concerning this topic.

    Backup before and make sure you keep files (firmware) required to return to V16.05.MR9.

    If your setup is stable, I suggest you do not upgrade unless you are compelling reasons other than fashion.

    Wait for V18.

    They are talking about releasing V.17.1... so the wait is too long.... I did an upgrade from 16.5 and now stucked on 17.0.3 MR3 which does not give me reports.  And to talk about IPSec is of no use.

    Ask yourself that question:  What feature of v17.x is so absolutely necessary that it is worth daily VPN outages (i.e. MANY per day) you will have quite possibly to deal with ?  And all of those service tickets that you will have to raise, that in the end will not solve anything until V18, maybe.  In any case backup and test before ...
