How is DNS with RED working?

Hi,

I am having a RED15 behind a XG (SW).

I am able to reach all IP from RED device to Server behind XG but not using DNS.

DNS to Internet is fine.

So my question: How is DNS going with RED? The RED device is given as the DNS server for all devices dehind RED.

Where is this coming from?

In XG the internal server is given as first DNS Server. But the RED doesn't make use of it.

When I am doing a nslookup from a client behind RED and use the DNS server explicit it is fine.

nslookup internal fails (using RED device as DNS server).

nslookup server.internal dnsserver.internal s fine (and dnsserver.internal is the first specified server in XG)!

  • Hi,

The RED Appliance on LAN does not have any IP at all. The IP on RED LAN is the XG itself.

So did you check the Device Access Page on XG Webadmin for the RED/VPN Zone? Can Clients use the XG as a DNS Server (Checkbox).

    Cheers

  • Thanks for answer

there is not "red" network in device access page! Only lan/wan/dmz/VPN/wifi.

But dns is checked for lan and vpn.

I rebooted the FW last night. That seems to solves the problem...
