How many WAN link available on Sophos 330

Hi,

I plan to buy Sophos XG330 but I have 3 ISP with the dial-up connections. I want to terminate all ISP on my firewall as active-active. Can you guide me that is it possible as tree ISP link as dialup (WAN load balancing)  on active-active configuration on XG300?

Deepak Kumar

  • Sophos XG330 have 12 port  on board, and each port can define as WAN as you need.

    3 WAN active-active forwarding?

    A piece of cake~

    Hi,

Yes, you can have 3 WAN links as active-active load balancing on XG330, as it has 12 ports  8 port GE copper + 2 GE SFP +      2 10GE SFP+ on board.

Please refer, sophos-xg-series-appliances-brna.aspx  & sophos_xg_310_330_rackmount_appliances_qsg.pdf for the Hardware Specifications.

Please also refer, Sophos Firewall: How to configure gateway load balancing and failover for the configuration part of active-active WAN Load Balancing.

    Thanks

  • Hi,

I agree with you. Keep in mind that I have 3 ISP with Dialup connections. All connection will terminate directly to firewall and PPOE will configure on all wan ports. Why I am asking this question becuase I faced the same issue with another vendor that after a specific model you can't configure as PPOE of your wan port and I need double NAT to resolve my issues. This is not acceptable.

Can you clear my this point?

    Hi,

I don't think there is any such thing that you can't configure PPPoE WAN  on XG after a certain Model.

You should be able to configure all your WAN interface as PPPoE on the XG firewall and haven't even heard of any kind of limitation for it.

I think you should be able to configure 3 WAN ISP PPPoE on XG as per your requirement, or even more than that.

Still, I had tried to save three interface config on XG 210. They are not connected physically but, I am able to save it as shown in below snapshot,

As you are going to buy XG 330 which is a higher model, so you can use 3 WAN PPPoE. Even more than that, because I don't think there are any such limitations to it.

Still, if you need a second opinion then you can wait for someone else to reply this thread.

    Cheers
