SOPHOS XG HOME Firewall

Hi Guys,

Host OS: Kali linux

Guest OS: SFOS

Hypervisor: VMware workstation 14 Pro

Here I can see the WAN port which is in bridged mode is able to access the internet but the LAN(172.16.16.16) is not accessible from the host machine.

This surely means I am unable to access the Web GUI of the SOFOS XG home firewall.

The vmnet0 is the bridged port which is currently WAN and vmnet1 which is currently the LAN segment is having ip address 172.16.16.1 .

Please help here.

Have you setup a DHCP server on the XG?

I didn't get your idea of why we should enable DHCP in SOPHOS because vmware is already having a DHCP segment same as 172.16.16.0/24.The host NIC(vmnet1) have the same segment but unable to communicate or access the Web UI of the SOPHOS.

Hi,

The ip schema is as follows:

Host machine(Kali Linux) Vmnet1(Virtual interface) interface ip 172.16.16.1/24

SOPHOS XG home firewall(Guest Machine) LAN interface Vmnet1 ip address 172.16.16.16/24.(Interface mode: Host only network)

Host machine physical adapter wlan0 ip address 192.168.x x is bridged with SOPHOS XG(Guest machine) Vmnet0 this is the WAN interface.

You mean accessing the default ip with the port no: 4444,in that case I have tried that also.

Any other suggestions.
