So this is something that should not ever be an issue and I am having trouble believing that this could be an issue, yet here we are.
we have recently changed from legacy "smtp deployment mode" to "Device acts as a Mail Transfer Agent (MTA)." on our XG330 . One of the side effects of this appears to be that the firewall now relays mail CaSe SeNsItIvE-ily if you can believe that... I had some users complain that they are getting "550 5.1.1 sorry, no mailbox here by that name (chkuser)" from remote mailservers, when before the change, they were able to email the user fine. And I have duplicated this and fixed it by simply changing John.Doe@domain.com to john.doe@domain.com.
This should never happen!!!! and was indeed not happening before we changed the way the sophos XG firewall is relaying mail last week.
does anyone know if that's a setting or WHAT THE F???? this breaks RFC i am pretty damn sure....
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/9807909/are-email-addresses-case-sensitive
https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc5321#section-2.3.11
so while technically case sensitivity is allowed, sophos XG should NOT be doing this!!!
