About two months ago, we got a XG85 (SFOS 17.0.5 MR-5) . Every few days it spontaneously reboots. I opened a support case and the tech suggested that ". I can only assume that it's rebooting because the CPU is maybe too high and the appliance locks up. "
I took his two suggestions and made the change a few minutes ago:
- Disabled IPS on the main internet rule
- 'Web > General Settings' and setting 'Scanning Mode' to 'Real Time'
Before I made is changes, the CPU was at 18% (that's high??) and memory was at 86%.
Regardless, this seems weird. By cutting out the features above, isn't this sort defeating the reason we bought this firewall (its only about eight weeks old). If the CPU can't handle it, why sell the product? Is there a product y'all sell that will handle the feature set that comes with product?
Even worse, I just found this post:
I have no idea if its true but at the very end the guy says:
"Here is my experience, I have had 2 XG85W in the last 3 weeks. Countless restarts on its own and finally Sophos has told me that that the X85 is most likely going to be dropped due its lack of resources especially with the latest OS. I am returning the device and going to try the XG105W."
Is the XG85 a lemon?
