Renewing SSL Certificate issues

I am driven mad trying to renew a certificate on my SMC server. Can anyone point me in the right direction on this as there are so many manuals it is difficult to locate.

I am currently running SMC 5.1.3. on Windows 2008 R2 server in our DMZ. IIS doesn't appear to be installed. The original certificate was installed using the Sophos SSL certificate wizard. The certificate was automatically renewed by the SSL authority without the need for a new CSR. I just cannot find how to get this installed on the SMC server without installing IIS?

Can anyone point me in the right direction on this?

Thanks in advance.

  • As an addendum to the above post, The original cert was issues a number of years ago and uses SHA1. obviously SHA2 would be more preferable. Should I just create a new CSR using the existing private key, upload it to the CA and get the cert re-issued? This I assume would solve my problem?
  • I had to install an updated certificate on our install, had issues with the website but found the SSL Certificate Wizard in Sophos Mobile Control/tools/Wizard and that allowed me to update it.
  • If you have a link on using the Sophos Mobile Control SSL wizard (I have used it for the initial cert but not for a renewal) I am afraid to go too far as it looks like creating a new CSR will invalidate the original certificate. The new certificate automatically renewed with SHA256RSA. Therefore I need to know how to get this new cert uploaded to the SMC box.
  • I just experienced a similar issue when moving Mobile Control to another server. The SSL cert had to be rekeyed and was installed on the server but Sophos didn't recognize it. The website kept pulling the old cert. I solved this by running the SSL certificate wizard a second time and selecting "import cert" and navigating to file location
