Sophos Secure Email Container Problem: User has special character in Password

Hi there,

on an ipad with iOS 10.1.1: I have a user who has a # in his password and due to this he cannot connect to the mailserver with the sophos secure EMail Container-app. The same account works fine configured directly under settings / mail for the native mail app on the iPad. Known bug?

  • Does it work if he uses \# rather than just #?

The other option (which we do) is SCEP/NDES. We issue a Cert to the Device and then Authenticate to Exchange and Wireless using that certificate. This means the user can change their AD password without having to change the password on their devices as well

  • Hi,

I did a retest with the latest version 7.19.12 and I was able to authenticate with a # in the password.

Does the issue still occur for you with the latest version?

    Best regards
    Stefan

  • Hi there,

it works, sorry for the missing update, I reported it only to the sophos-support, not to the forum. And the error was not the # in the password.

When I created the user in SMC (by hand, no AD-sync), I entered as his mailaddress lastname@domain.de but in his mailpreferences on our mailserver he has firstname.lastname@domain.de as his primary address (users can change that). So he could not authenticate because of the wrong mailaddress. When I changed his mailaddress in the SMC user preferences, everything worked fine.

Happy new year to all of you
