Duplicate Windows Mobile devices

Hi,

I have noticed an issue in SMC Server version: 6.1.11 (rev 7612) in that it looks to be possible to enrol a WM device more than once to different users, this has happened due to our SD not removing a device from SMC when a user leaves and it then being re-allocated to a new user and then enrolled into SMC. I think that tis is not possible for iOS devices. will this cause problems?

  • Hi John,

normally, you should be only able to create one workplace account on the device itself.
Within SMC you can add it as often as you like as the SMC server does not use e.g. the IMEI to identify a device.

The only problem which could occur is that the email synchronization may not work because the ActiveSync ID might also be linked to the second device.
Therefore, if the email access is denied for this device, then the ActiveSync ID would be rejected.

    Best regards
    Stefan

  • Hi Stefan,

It seems to me to be a bit of an issue that I can enrol the same device twice, I cannot do this with an Apple device. The Windows device does have a device ID the same as an Apple device but it looks like this is not being used. I have re-iterated to Service desk that they should be more careful however it would be better if the server did not allow this..

    Regards
