Sophos MDM IOS 9.3.2 // VPP for free apps required again!

Hello Folks,

since the new IOS 9.3.2 I have to link the VPP license to the device(s) again, even when the app is for free. I double checked it. I've checked the following:

## Iam using a brand new AppleID with almost no app linked to it! ##

1. IPad Air2 with IOS 9.3.2 - Can't install the Cisco Any Connect app via MDM Error: ( The iTunes Store ID of the application could not be validated )

--> this app is for free in the appstore!

1.2 I've linked the App - VPP to the device, try to reinstall and the task appears on the iPad ( do you wish to install .... ) - I abort it.

2. IPad Pro with IOS 9.3 - Same app, No VPP link, Installation worked via MDM without the Error!  - I abort it.

3. IPad Pro with IOS 9.3.1 - Same app, No VPP link, Installation worked via MDM without the Error!  - I abort it.

So I'am not able to install free apps on my devices, without clicking every single app and link the VPP to the Device. This costs time and I'am not willing to do it again :D this was a pain in the ass while the IOS 8.XX Versions.

I've called the Sophos support and told him my "story" he will forward it to their Backend-Support.

Do you guys got anything so far?

-Franz

  • Today we received aswell 2 iPhones 5 SE.

    1 iPhone with 9.3.1

    1 iPhone with 9.3

    #################

    1. I was able to install all free apps without any problem on the iPhone with the IOS 9.3. I used an apple ID which has got no apps at all. VPP link to the device was also not required.

    2. The thing is, with the other iPhone (IOS 9.3.1) I've got the same issues like above (iPad Air2 IOS9.3.2).

So it seems to me, that Apple changed something with their license shizzel and also differs which Device you are using.

    - Is there anything I can do about it?

  • Okay, sophos global-servicedesk called me and they said, the source of the problem is by apple. They will publish a Hot-Fix für Sophos 6.1.4 to resolve this issue.

Let's hope this will do the trick.

  • Hi Mathias,

a patch for Sophos Mobile Control 6.1 is available for download since yesterday evening.

Additional information about the patch and how to apply it can be found here.

Please install the patch which hopefully solves your problem.

    Best regards
    Stefan

  • Yes Stefan, I've applied the patch today and it work again like before!

    Thanks!
