Really BYOD - Control Website Surfed by Users

Hi All,

I have some questions regarding Sophos Mobile Control and how it can protect Mobile Users even when they are out of the office.
SMC can be integrated with UTM where you can push VPN and Wireless Connectivity but nothing about URL Filtering.

I would like to know if in the future, Admins can enforce URL Filtering even on Mobile and have control on which websites users surf during the day (Very Strong profile during working hours and Soft Profile out of the office).

In case users delete the Sophos Profile on Mobile, they have no more access to Email and any corporate data. Is it possible?

    Hi Luk,

    for Android devices with versions lower Android 6.0 you could use Sophos Mobile Security to filter for specific content like violence, drugs, weapons..

    You could also deny access to specific URLs but they have to be entered within SMC manually and cannot be provided via the UTM.

    For iOS, there is nothing available like this, as far as I know.

    If you want, you can raise a feature request for that here, but please keep in mind that all MDM vendors always rely on the possibilities the operating system provides.
    For example iOS is very restrictive regarding the possibilities due to the nature of the operating system.

    In general, if a user deletes the mobile device management profile which installed during the enrollment process all configurations and settings defined by SMC are automatically removed. This is the case for Android and iOS.

    thank you very much for your clarification. Mobile are everywhere and inside them data is stored and malicious threats can reach them. What I would like to see an APP for Android/Apple/Windows where if the APP is not enabled or configured, the Mobile cannot access corporate data and configured web urls. Threats will soon reach the mobile too and something should be done from Antivirus SW Houses and from Mobile O.S warehouse.

    I think something like heartbeat for XG, where if the Sophos is not installed, traffic is denied.

    I will raise a feature request on it.

    Hope that you in Sophos will think about. For the moment, Mobile Protection need more advanced feaures.
