App Protection locked out

Question

I had Free Antivirus and Security suit installed on a Nexus 7. 4.3 update was just installed. Activating app protection (and downloading the needed software), password was set and verified in two fields and accepted.

Immediatly tried to access setting only to be told the paswsord just entered is not recognized.

No recovery password used so now I am totlay locked out of all settings.

Any ideas?

Just now I was testing SOPHOS Mobile Security software (as I now work on a Sophos partner) and almost had a heart attack. Ended up in this thread looking for a way to save my life (and my Motorola XOOM). My problem is that I don't have 3G in my XOOM (only WiFi) so I can't text message myself for the Loss &Theft app. Meaning is you have a WiFi only device SOPHOS security is not for you and it is sad. But (a big BUT) you can configure the AppLocker to send you a recovery password (by email, etc) for you to insert using the "Forgotten Password" option in the AppLocker login screen. When enabling, SOPHOS app tells you not to do that because it's a security breach and blah blah blah but you can say yes and save that email as if your life depends on it. Well, your life doesn't but that of your device indeed does. =) The problem was I did NOT activates the password recovery before I had set up the AppLocker, so I got desperate and insane and wanted to jump out of the window while cursing my security options. Then I had an enlightenment (I remebered stuff about crappy password managers from other software). I was almost sure that wasn't the case but I tried that anyway (what one has to lose?)... and it worked. The thing is SOPHOS Mobile Security does NOT interprets special characters (such as $ or @). Yes, it sucks, i know that. So the thing I did was enter my password totally skipping the special characters I had in it. Then, as magic, my password that the app kept saying was wrong was finally accepted and I had access to the App again. So, as fast as ligthining, I had disabled that feature for good. Even though I have the option of the recovery pass by email, a AppLocker with a password of "blablabla123" doesn't fit well in my point of view. Maybe I'll use it for my Nexus 4, as I have the option of both the recovery email AND the text message not to lose my device for ever and ever. Hope that helped. Kind regards. :1013903
