Suspicious Wi-Fi connection detected

The Intercept X app on my android phone keeps giving me the notification "Suspicious Wi-Fi connection detected".  When I tap on it, it takes me to Network details where I see "SSL interception detected".

I've rebooted my router.  Also, I've disconnected my phone from the WiFi network, tapped "Forget", and then reconnected twice.  But, I still keep getting the same notification.

What do I need to do to find out what the problem is?

  • Hi  Ron Feole  ,

This also goes for everyone experiencing the same issue. We have received an update that this behavior seems to be caused by the app not being able to correctly apply the latest certificates from the Sophos warehouse.

For the time being, Sophos Development has reverted the certificate change which was causing the behavior, and the affected users should no longer see the warning when checking the network connection again.

More details can be found in the following advisory:
    support.sophos.com/.../KB-000044945

Kindly check and let us know if you're still seeing the warning. Thank you.

  • Okay I reported a problem earlier where this occurs at my house on an ASUS router.

However I'm now over at my in-laws and connecting through an Xfinity Wi-Fi router at their house, and I have the exact same problem.

And, to be clear, the problem at a lower level is "SSL interception detected"
