impact on devices when unbinding Google Enterprise from Sophos onpremise?

The title says it all. We need/want to migrate our devices from old Sophos MDM on prem. to the cloud. About 20% of our (newer) Samsung Android 10+ devices is enrolled with Google Enterprise (Samsung KME) en is Full device managed in Sophos.

We want to unbind the Google account in the old Sophos and re-use it in de the cloud EMM.
But whats happens on the devices? i.e. apps updates or app downloads by the user if the connection with Google Enterprise is gone on the old server.
Considering the number of devices we are not able to wipe them all for a new enrollment and want to use a more natural update proccess the next months.

  • Hello Michel Mulder1,

Thank you for contacting the Sophos Community.

If you are looking to move from SMC on-premise over to SMC in Central, I recommend using the Migration Guide.
    https://docs.sophos.com/esg/smc/9-7/admin/en-us/esg/Sophos-Mobile/concepts/MigrationPreface.html

If you were to un-bind your google play account, this will clear any information stored on Google's side for the EMM solution. When re-binding to the Central platform, all configs would need to be set up as though it were a brand new environment and you will need to re-enroll the devices.

I was performing testing some time ago where this was possible. When checking now, I am met with the error "You can't unbind Sophos Mobile from Android Enterprise when there are devices enrolled".
