What happens to fully managed android devices when license expires ?

Hi there, Customer is asking what happens when his Sophos Mobile License expires:

We are deploying Sophos Mobile standard to a bunch of Android devices with Android Enterprise Device Policy, fuilly managed by the organisation. So we are setting up Sophos Mobile Control on initial setup of the Android devices.

When the license expires, what happens to the Android devices ? Do they automatically reset themselves to factory default ? if not, do they provide the option to the user to factory reset his device ?

Also need to know, is there a way to prevent the Hard Reset of Android devices (Power Button + Volume Up on device restart to go to debugging mode and then reset the device) ?

thank you !

  • Hi

If the license file of Sophos Mobile Control expired these things are not possible anymore.

    1. Adding new devices to the Sophos Mobile Control web management via Self Service Portal or manually is not possible.
    2. Processing tasks will remain in the Accepted state.

It does not automatically reset the device. If the restrictions policies are applied, then user won't be able to factory reset the device.

  • thank you for the reply, so i guess i have to remove the Sophos Mobile Control before expiration of my licenses then ...?
