SEC setup in multi site scenario

Hello,

What is the recommended setup for multi site environment? Does SEC work like you install on each local site 1 SEC server, and all the local SEC servers will be managed by a master SEC server? Or only 1 SEC server at HQ and all clients from all sites will be managed by this server?

  • Hi

You will need to install Enterprise console on the primary server, and if you wish then you can install additional remote management console to manage your networked computers on different sites. The new console will need access to the server in which you have installed Enterprise console management. Please refer to this guide which describes all the configuration steps and the requirements for Installing Enterprise console. You may reach your account manager if you face any issues with the initial setup configuration.

  • Hi Mark,

One SEC server at HQ would probably be the optimal method.  This may be a rather complex deployment and I would suggest reaching out to Professional Services to help plan and set this up.  Depending on the size you would likely also want to install additional message relays/update managers in each site so computers at branch sites update from a server local to their site rather than HQ.  This would require the message relays/update managers to be able to reach the HQ SEC either through a VPN or a server publicly available in HQ that can forward traffic to HQ SEC.

Here's the advanced startup guide as this is a more advanced setup.

Here's information on setting up additional Update Managers.

Here's information on message relays configured for WAN.
