Check of update source failed due to unexpected error 'Base64Decode returned false'.

Question

Hi, 
 Our old SEC server crashed after an array died and we have been unable to restore it using the Windows Backup that was taken. 
 After following the Migration Procedures we have sucessfully installed SEC on a new server by mounting the VHD's from the windows backup and the registry files ; and it appears to be working , apart from the Update manager. 
 The error we recieve when trying to configure Update manager on the new server is "Error Check of update source failed due to unexpected error 'Base64Decode returned false'."

 But i am unable to follow the instructions as i dont have that access to the old server, and the old version is 5.2.1 ,so exportprivatestore.exe does not exist in the installation directory, And when mounting the VHD it cannot mount to C: so the migration tool will not work as it would be a "non standard" installation. 
 
 Any ideas?

Do you just have this one Update Manager? If so its possible to follow the below steps to re-create the private keys. 
 
1. Open the Enterprise Console and remove 'Sophos' as a Source from the Update Manager configuration. 
2. Hit OK on any warnings when saving the configuration. 
3. Close the console and restart the Management service and SUM service. 
4. Backup the private key in the registry keys found in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Wow6432Node/Sophos/EE/Managament Tools/Private 
5. Delete all of the REG Binaries within Private. (they should look like BEGIN_SECURE_TICKET) 
6. Open the console and configure the SUM again.
