Red X --- not updating

I installed v.9 of Sophos Endpoint Security onto an XP machine and rebooted. A red X appears over the shield icon and I find I am not getting updates as required. Is there a known fix? A removal and re-installation just produced the same result.

  • I'm having this same problem, a little red x.

    I downloaded my software off my college site because they use this as their antivirus software and everytime I try to update this so I could use the program it says it can't contact the server. And I wasn't asked for a password or username when I installed this.
