Is Sophos compatible with any wifi chipsets?

Hello,

I just discovered Sophos, but i was wondering if i was able to install it in a x86 unit that had a wireless chipset in it and be able to use it as an access point? As far as i can tell all the wireless features seem to only work with Sophos APs, is this true?

Also, what flavor of linux is Sophos based on?
