Protection Wizard Error while using The Enterprise Console

Good morning,

I am having trouble protecting end users while using the protection wizard in The Enterprise Console (4.7.0.13).

I can search for and find computers on my network/domain using the Find New Computers Wizard without issue.

When I click on Protect Computers for an unprotected computer the wizard opens up and I can go through the steps up until I have to enter a user name and password for a privelliged user to install on remote computers. I enter the username and password for the domain's administrator account and it throws up an error:

‘‘‘‘An unexpected error has occurred.

It was not possible to complete the last operation.

Click the “Advanced” button for information you can send to Sophos Technical support. This information can be used to diagnose and fix the problem.

Close the console and open it again.’’’’

When I click the advanced button I get this log.

Unspecified error

----- [outer exception] -----
-- error: 0x80004005 (Unspecified error)
-- facility: Generic (System)

Any help at all on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

  • Hello Justin,

just a number pf questions: Did it work before - if so, when did it work last and do you have an idea what might have changed? Does this happen for all (unprotected) computers and no matter how many you select? Which SESC version (9.x, 10.0 or 10.2) are you trying to install and finally, which version of Windows on the endpoint?
