SearchSuite

Hi,

A scan with Endpoint Security detected a PUA called SearchSuite.  When I went to clean, I got a message to do it manually. When I right click for the location, I get an error message "error displaying this folder's contents. I tried the antivirus tool and it came back clean. I ran another scan and it was clean. Still the SeachSuite shows on the Quarantine list.  If I remove it from the list, I get a message saying it is still in quarantine. How can I get rid of this  SearchSuite?

  • Hello osu,

    error displaying this folder's contents

this together with the fact that subsequent scans came back clean suggests that the folder was a temporary one (e.g. an extracted install source directory) and is now gone. An "uncleanable" item won't be removed from the quarantine list by a subsequent scan (especially if the scan hasn't passed over the item's location).

message saying it is still in quarantine

The quarantine term is IMO somewhat unfortunate (as it leads to confusion and misconceptions). The message in the OK/Cancel prompt (if that's the one you're referring to) says something slightly different: clearing an item from the list does not remove it from the computer. In other words - after clicking OK the item is gone from the list (all the information about it is still in SAV.txt, the Anti-Virus log) but, as no actions have been performed QM is aware of, is (or might not be) still on the computer.
