Scanning the Server

We are a school with a single server that has Endpoint 10 and a number of workstations that are protected.

The server has the endpoint console and loads & distributes the updates etc.

The server other than updating does not log onto the internet. However recently there has been a couple of occassions when it has had to to support other software/troubleshooting. I would like to do a scan of the server to check that it is ok. However  I cannot do this from the Console and the server itself does get the protection in the way the workstations do as endpoint clients.

Is there a simple way I can do very occassional full scans on the Server? I had thought of downloading one of the free sophos tools to do this ad hoc scan.

Thanks

  • Hello LCPS,

the server should - if SESC is installed - appear in the console like any other endpoint and in the endpoints view you should be able to request a Full System Scan .... Another way to start a scan is using the local GUI on the server.

the server itself does get the protection in the way the workstations do

Is on-access scanning turned off for the server (or even the other endpoints as well)? If not, then a full scan is of not much use anyway except in certain circumstances. Anyway the product is preferable to the free tools.
