Re-Installation on New Server

Hi All,

We have sophos 10.1 installed on our main domain controller, we would like to move this off onto its own dedicated server as this domain controller is soon to be decomissioned.

The database is very messy and there is stuff all over the place so would like to start a fresh again on a new server.

We have pre built a server ready for the application which is on the domain.

I have downloaded the endpoint managment console installer and I am familar with installing and comissioning sophos, the only question I have is that as this has already been installed all the accounts have been created on the domain already for sophos.

When I install the new server I dont want it to overwrite these user accounts and cause the old server to stop working as we need a migration process whilst we move everything over.

Has anyone done this before and if so any pitfalls/issues to watch out for?

Cheers

Lee

  • Hello Lee,

SEC 5.0 and later installers ask you for (the) existing accounts (services/database and SUM user), they are not created or overwritten and thus there should be no interference. You could also create new ones of course.
