Sophos Endpoint Security and Control fails to install when Forticlient VPN is installed

Pushing "Sophos Endpoint Security and Control" with the "Sophos Enterprise Console" fails when Forticlient VPN is installed.

%userprofile%\AppData\Local\Temp\avremove.log shows this:

Debug: Key {34D6AD5A-C03D-45FF-AA8A-8B306E01B96D} was found
Info: Detected Fortinet FortiClient Endpoint Security version 4.x

Fortinet FortiClient Endpoint Security is installed WITHOUT the antivirus part, only the VPN-part is installed.

Workaround is to rename

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{34D6AD5A-C03D-45FF-AA8A-8B306E01B96D}
Then push sophos and rename back.

Sophos - Please change the behaviour of the installer to check for the antivirus part only.

  • Hello QC, I forgot to mention that: Yes, checking or unchecking the "Third-Party Security Software Detection?" makes no difference. I already sent that info to Sophos some time ago (and now again) - as nothing changed so far I wanted at least to post the workaround
