SCF invalid checksum in error

Hi All,

The outbound traffic of application DWRCS.exe (Dameware remote control) is being blocked by SCF (Sophos Client Firewall), which logs the reason for the block as an invalid checksum. DWRCS along with other Dameware components are Trusted under a firewall policy in SEC (Sophos Enterprise Console) and this policy applies to two sites. All the machines in SiteA allow the outbound traffic of DWRCS and a few machines in SiteB also allow the traffic but the majority block the it.

The applicaiton checksum is indentical on the SEC firewall policy, the machines that allow the traffic and those which block the traffic. SEC reports that all policies are current on all machines and running 'update now' from the affected client machines has no effect, the only resolution so far has been to remove SCF and reinstall it by using 'protect computers...' within SEC.

Does anyone know why machines which report as up to date and have the same policies applied are reporting that the application checksum is invalid in this case and is there a better way of resolving the issue than removing and reinstalling SCF?

Thank you in advance for the your help

  • Hello isal, can't see right now why reinstalling should make a difference. Anyway, the SCF log and the Event Viewer/SEC show the detected checksum - is it indeed identical to the one in the policy? BTW it's not update now but 'comply with' as far as policies are concerned. Christian
