Hello,
I'm sorry but this is another SUM problem. I've found two topics related to more or less the same problem but with no response and the e-mail support wasn't able to help me (some tech support should call me... but asynchronous help is better when you're not dedicated to a task).
The Enterprise Console is not configured in English so I'll try to translate the messages as best as I can.
Problem description :
The console is reporting that the (local) SUM is "Awaiting Configuration" even if it is configured.
Context :
OS : Windows 2003 R2 64 bits
DB : default embedded DB (MSQL Express 2005 or 2008, the one included in the Sophos installer)
Install type : the console was migrated (following Sophos' procedure) from a Win2003 (32 bits) server. The backup server, who is almost identical, was successfully migrated (no bug)
What's been done/observed :
When I launch the Enterprise Console, the SUM Wizard pops up, even if it already happened the last time.
I register everything (source : Sophos + credentials, proxy + credentials), no error message, it starts downloading...
=> BUT at the end it still says "awaiting configuration" and last check : never (when downloading, it switches to "downloading binaries")
Why do I say it IS configured ?
Because the SUM is okay, the update share is filled, and the SUM log viewer (in the SUM subfolder) reports no error - to the contrary, it reports successful download and the SUM itself is updated to the right version. Which obviously means that proxy settings where successfully passed (I even checked the configuration fie) !
So it seems that communication from the console to the local SUM is okay (configuration is written) but not the other way.
Steps taken :
I've restated the Sophos services with no success.
It is not "highly critical" as the clients can and successfully update from the share, but it prevents me from easily checking their update status as the console says it is "unknown", which is basically unacceptable in production.
As the server hosts other services, I can't restart it (I can restart the services however) without due justification and following specific procedures.
I hope my description is clear enough. Any hope would be gladly appreciated.
