I get the message above on some machines in our network.

Does anybody know what this file is for? According to Process Explorer it seems to depend on system process with PID 4.

If I close the handle of this file with process explorer, the file is deleted immediately.

Does anybody know which program creates this file and how I can view its content?

    Hello strubbel,

    probably belongs to some hardware-protected (e.g. USB dongle) program. If this is the case there should be a service named (probably) Hardlock with an image path %windir%\system32\drivers\hardlock.sys. Don't ask me which program/application this could be or why and when this file is created :smileywink:. Very likely this file is harmless and the message can be ignored.
