NetSupport School and Sophos Version 10 compatibility

Hello all,

Hope you're all doing well. We are wanting to push Sophos version 10 to all of our endpoints, but we utilize NetSupport School (remote management software) in some of our computer labs. After pushing version 10.0.10 VDL4.89G to some NetSupport machines, they are reporting back an error: "Web Protection error (incompatible program: NetSupport DNA)". It is listed somewhere on the Sophos site that NetSupport School is an incompatible program.

I know that version 10 has some kind of extra web protection functionality versus the previous version. Should I assume the virus protection capability besides the additional web protection is working? Is there a way to reconcile the incompatibility of the programs? Is there a way to disregard the error message permanently if not?

Thanks for any insight!

Sincerely,

Cameron

  • I know this thread is an old thread, but through some troubleshooting with Sophos, it was determined that if you disable the Sophos Network Threat Protection in the services of the affected machine, this will fix the issue.  Sophos is looking into the issue further as well.
