Endpoint SUM fails on downloading binaries

Hi, i installed Enterprise console 4.7. the update manager attempts to download binaries the first time and in a few minutesit will fail to update. it stuck in a certain DAT file and not able to syncronize based in the Logviewer. tried checking the internet connection and it seems okay. i reformatted the OS of the server and try installing the console again but i am getting the same problem. below is the error message from the Logviewer from the enterprise console update manager.

6/2/2011 1:26:12 PM    Error    Synchronize operation failed when synchronizing product release 'Windows Endpoint Security and Control'. Details: Cannot locate server for http://d1.sophosupd.net/update/b59157e40c149383f0ce9084f94f51d8x000.dat

  • Hi Kheiren

Have you tried to download the file manually and place it in the warehouse folder?

You might need to stop the SophosUpdate Manager service while you are doing this.

I know previously and it was only sometimes, we had to remove(make a backup first) the SUM_Status.xml and specialactions.xml file from the Enterprise Console\SUM directory, restart the services and the updates would work thereafter.

Maybe have a look at permissions or if a proxy is preventing certain file types from being downloaded (If applicable)

    :)

  • It looks like one of the AutoUpdate CHM help files.  You may want to check that CHM files are allowed through any content filters you might have.
