Download of RMSNT Failed from server...

I'm a new user to Sophos and am trying to get it working, however I'm having issues with it updating.  The error message I'm getting is as follows (note main IP has been renamed to X.X.X.X):

Code 0000006b:  Download of RMSNT failed from server http://X.X.X.X/CIDs/S014/SAVSCFXP/

ALC.log shows:

After doing some google searches I found a site that advised changin a setting for the Indexing service (basically adding an exclusion to not look at the cache folder under the Sophos main directory).  I add this in, but still receive the above errors.  I'm not sure where next to look to resolve this problem.  Anyone have any ideas for me?  Thanks in advance!

  • Hey QC, thanks for the reply!  I must admit I was handed this project to get the program to update successfully, and I wasn't the initial person who took on this project or did the install, but I assume it was all done correctly.  It was after a while that my college wasn't getting anywhere that our boss said "You fix it" and pointed at me.  Such is the life sometimes of an IT administrator...

    Anyways, to answer your questions:

Yes, the install was completed successfully.  The only error was during the update.

Yes, the mrinit.conf file exists and in the right place

I have tried clearing the Cache with the same error coming back.

After receiving this lovely gift and posting here I decided to look further in doing much like you suggested.  I believe I found the problem where some permissions for the file being accessed were not made correctly.  I didn't think to look there before assuming my predecessor had already gone over that part.  I was mistaken.  Curious that this didn't seem to affect any other file or folder that I could tell (ie, the rest of the files would download just fine).  At any rate, the update program now can download the mrinit.conf file successfully!

Thanks again for the reply and assistance!  It was very appreciated.
