Configure updating greyed out

Question

Hi guys,

My configure updating is greyed out, we tried the Enterprise centre for Win Server 2008 R2 which didn't go too well. I would like to change the machines that managed to see the Enterprise Centre back to stand alone machines. Is there an easy way of doing this? or is it an uninstall job?

Hi,

The ability to edit the various tabs is controlled by the config files of AutoUpdate. They reside here:

\Program files\Sophos\AutoUpdate\Config\ 
 or 
 \ProgramData\Sophos\AutoUpdate\Config\ 
 depending on OS.

Depending on the tab you wish to change a setting on, have a look in the files for:

AllowLocalConfig = 0 
 and change it to 
 AllowLocalConfig = 1

So for the primary update location, open iconn.cfg in Notepad for example and change:

[PPI.WebConfig_Primary] 
 AllowLocalConfig = 0 
 to: 
 
 [PPI.WebConfig_Primary] 
 AllowLocalConfig = 1 
 
 You may need to change the other sections in the configuration file depending on if you need to change the proxy address for example.

If the machine is still managed by SEC you may still send down a policy which will revert this so you may want to un-install the RMS component on these machines.

It might be worth contacting Support to understand the issues you have had with Enterprise Console as that would be the preferred method for managing the machines.
