sophos_autoupdate1.dir

I know the contents of this directory is safe to delete but it keeps filling up rather quickly,

Can I stop this? how can I move it to another disk?

also, Some of the files can't be deleted (seen on anoumber of win2k3 servers) these appear to be shortcuts.

C:\WINDOWS\Temp\sophos_autoupdate1.dir\1266387112\program files\Sophos\Sophos Anti-Virus\Sophos Anti-Virus (de) (internet shortcut)

Even if I try to reset the file permissions it refuses (Access Denied)

Any advice?

  • It happens on servers Windows 2003 SP2.

I clear down the autoupdate folder but it keeps filling up again.

There are folders with names in unix timestamp format that appear daily. (each with about 50MB)

When I try and delete these folders the majority of the contents are removed apart from the following.

    eg C:\WINDOWS\Temp\sophos_autoupdate1.dir\1267517712\program files\Sophos\Sophos Anti-Virus\Sophos Anti-Virus (de)

Any ideas on how to remove these files and stop these folders filling up?
