Intermittent freezing in Win 7

Computer freezes intermittently in Win 7, 64bit.  The freezing started after the installation of Anti-Virus v 7.6.18. Anyone know of any problems with this version?

    I have discovered that Sophos Anti-Virus is not the cause of my computer freezes.  While troubleshooting, I decided to temporarily uninstall SAV.  The problem stills exists, but I can eliminate SAV as the cause.  The timing of the start of the freezing led me to believe SAV was the cause. I now believe that it must be caused by one of the start-up auto-updaters. I am investigating that now. I have re-installed SAV.
