Failed update in Sophos Endpoint Security and Control

In the status box in the upper left-hand corner of the application, It reads "Updating: Failed". When I go to manually update the updating animation appears briefly, but then reads "Could not contact server". When I got to check the update log, there is nothing there. Running vers. 10.6 on Windows 2008 Server R2.

Thanks for your help in advance.

  • Hello William Winford,

is this the same machine as the one with the On-Access Scanning: Disabled issue? This sound like the initial setup failed and AutoUpdate was not fully installed. The logs from the setup should be in the user's %temp% directory and possible in the system temp (\Windows\Temp).

  • Thanks for replying Christian,

Unfortunately these are separate problems on two different machines.

  • Hello William Winford,

I see ... well, checking the ES Setup log (in the user's %TEMP%) and the related MSIxxxxx.log  nevertheless applies here. Don't expect much more information than some error code at a certain point of execution. Is the Sophos AutoUpdate service installed, if so is it started or does it fail to start?
