Offline Update of Endpoint Security and Control 10.3.1 (standalone XP-PC)

Hi All,

I have a licenced installation-version of Endpoint Security and Control 10.3.1 with the AV-Software:

Detection Engine = 3.50.1  / Detection Data = 4.98G / HIPS-Rules = 10.3.33.1 / HIPS Config = 1.0.65.1

My plan is to update a standalone-XP-PC by copying the latest IDE-Files (downloaded from the Sophos-download-page)

into the \Sophos\Sophos Anti-Virus\ program folder and restart the service.

Q1.) At the Sophos-download-page I found only the last 3 months IDE-updates available.

Can I use these "new" downloaded IDE-files (for example  "513_ides") even with an older Sophos-Version and  is it working properly?

Q2.) Additionally I have tried to use one of my standalone-PC's as an update-machine by connecting it to the internet and start a normal update. Then I planned to transfer the downloaded IDE-Files to my other standalone-PC's via USB-stick. Unfortunately it was then immediately updating to a higher Sophos-Version. (10.3.13.276 / Det.Eng. 3.58.3 / DetData 5.15).

So can I use these online updated IDE-files too or is there any matching-problem due to  the installed older Sophos-Version at the standalone-PC's?

Thank you for any help regarding my topic.

Pete

  • Hi Christian,

    thanks for your answer.

Yes there is a good reason to run XP  :-)

My issue is, that I cannot connect the standalone-XP-PC's to the internet for an update. (no Internet available)

So if I now install the current latest version, it will be again an old version / engine after Sophos is publishing a new version..

To reinstall all PC's after a new Release (by Sophos) seems to be a very complicated solution.

Do you have any other suggestions?

    Thanks in advance.
